Victoria Aquatics Got fish from here, got wrong info from them leading probs with my fish. Won't go back again kez April 28th 2011 Report this review Rating:2 The owners are very friendly and knowledgeable and you dont feel embarassed approaching them to ask their advice. I will only buy from their shop as i know the fish are always of high quality and I know any fish bought from them will be free from any ailments as there stock is always extremely healthy and obviously they are dedicated to giving their customers the very best of service. Lisa mitchell March 10th 2011 Report this review Rating:10 As far as I'm concerned Victoria Aquatics in Carlisle is one of the best fish stores in Cumbria. They also welcome you with a smile and you feel at ease and not embarassed when you need to have questions answered regarding your fish. The fish they have for sale are always really healthy, good quality fish. I myself have 2 fish tanks at home and when i was new to keeping fish it resulted in my guppies having hundreds of babies! I was really nervous as to how to raise the fry, however after visiting the shop i was told what i would need to feed them and what i had to do to ensure the fry grow to be healthy fish. Following their advice i seperated my female and male guppies to seperate tanks to prevent further breeding. I have since went on to raise hundreds of guppies which the shop have kindly helped me out with rehoming when they reached a good size. The owners of this shop are dedicated to pleasing their customers by only selling quality fish, this is what makes them a success. They are happy to help you and give advice on any worries you have about your own fish should they fall ill. The service you get is of the very best!! Pay their shop a visit and see for yourself!! The store is friendly and children are welcome even just to look at the fish. They are always very willing to help and so far all their advice has been faultless. Robinson St Penrith Cumbria CA11 9HR Tel: 01768 891495 this is quite simply the best aquatic shop i have ever been in! every time i go in there is something different and always something i've never seen before. buy your fish here!!! Kenneth Gilmour March 15th 2010 Report this review Rating:10 I am new to any kind of fish keeping, and have found that North Lakes Aquatics are extremely helpful and have great stocks of healthy fish, healthy plants and all the staff are knowledgeable. I am back just about every week to check I am doing things right and (fingers crossed) have had no fatalities!! Jen March 17th 2008 Report this review Rating:10 Great fish shop with excelent customer service. the fish are really heathly and i never see one dead fish anytime i go into the shop. the tanks are always clean. never had any problems with the fish i have bought so would totally recommend the shop to anyone who was looking to buy any fish. they also give great advice to me on how to care for any kind of new fish i buy. also very reasonable priced for all things!!! Ann November 19th 2007 Report this review Rating:10 north lakes is by far the best supplier of freshwater fish and equipment in this area , as a very experienced fish keeper i find there staff to be by far the most helpfull and knowlagble i have ever come across and are more than willing to help in any situation i have encountered , where else does the owner personaly travel to south america to catch and source fish . there marine live stock although small is as with all other live stock in store is immacuatly kept and i have yet to see a dead fish in there tanks in summary i cannot recomend them highly enough and i for one would not have enjoyed this hobby as much as i have since i started shopping there many years ago , Ben ben woodall November 17th 2007 Report this review Rating:10 ive shopped at this store for years with excellent service from all staff who work there and who have also been a great help with any questions or problems i have had. you can understand how they win fish keeping awards on a annual basis with the highest standerds of live stock i have come across in a very long time. gav November 14th 2007 Report this review Rating:10 I am a member of the Practical fishkeeping forum and live near North lakes aquatics. The shop is excellent with no dead fish in the tanks and the staff are very friendly and give good advice. The shop has a large range of fish including the more unusual south american and african characins, cichlids and catfish. The marine fish and plant tanks are also very good and all of the stock is very healthy. I would rate this store as 10/10. Luke Allsop November 13th 2007 Report this review Rating:10 North Lakes Aquatics isnt my Favourite Aquatics to shop at. Recently the shop has gone down hill, Its just young staff that seem to be there just to earn money, they dont care about the customers or the fish, just their pay packet. I had bad Advice from the staff and now shop at another Aquatics in the area (Calico). Michael August 14th 2007 Report this review Rating:1 i bought some wild caught fish they may be nice to look at . but unless you no your fish they are hard to feed. robert nichol December 3rd 2006 Report this review Rating:1 This is the first shop I've been in for the area (Carlisle-ish) that has had no dead or ill fish anywhere in their huge selection of fish. They have the ones no-one else does and the whole place is excellently maintained. I would recommend the shop to anyone within driving distance and I will be back! Calico (UK) Ltd Calico is by far the best aquatics shop in cumbria makes places like victoria aquatics look stupid June 10th 2009 Report this review Rating:10 As a newcomer I've found all the staff at Calico to be most helpful without being overbearing, opinionated or pushy. Information has been offered freely and with no pressure to purchase anything. In fact, on three occasions I've been talked out of spending on items which I thought I needed. The atmosphere within the shop is relaxed and being able to sit and have a hot drink whilst admiring the amazing super-sized tank is a real pleasure. The fish and coral rooms have always been clean any tidy with reasonable stock levels of very healthy looking specimens. I'd certainly be happy to recommend them based on my experiences to date. Martin Thomas February 2nd 2009 Report this review Rating:10 untidy no one spoke to us and when my wife asked for help they were rude seems better on the marine side couldnt even tell me what some of the fish were in there tanks. If you keep fresh water fish its a complete waste of time. simon September 14th 2008 Report this review Rating:1 untidy no one spoke to us and when my wife asked for help they were rude seems better on the marine side couldnt even tell me what some of the fish were in there tanks. The staff are very friendly and offer excellent advice. The tanks are immaculate with no dead fish in sight. I would recommend this store very highly. Luke Allsop November 13th 2007 Report this review Rating:10 Calico Has got to be the most welcome aquatics i have ever been to. The staff there know exactly what they are talking about and give great advice. Its not like a lot of other aquatics where you are made to buy hings that you dont need, Calico only supply you with the right equiptment and dont charge the earth for it. I would recommend this store to anyone. I have been to other aquatics in the area such as Denton, Victoria and North Lakes Aquatics, none of these stores comes close to Calico. They stock the best Marine Fish, Coral and Inverts I have seen in years and now keep a nice range of freshwater fish. 10 out of 10 for Calico.
