Animal House (U.K) Ltd Now closed down Chris Woodcock June 30th 2006 Report this review Rating:1 This store is a disgrace, they're safety is awful.. they leave open top water tanks that children can place they're hands inside with 13 amp's running through the water and the service to customers is terrible, all they care about is making money and as soon as they have yours they dont care that they leave you with a broken part they've sold you or mucky water in the bag of the £200 fish you have just bought that cost them 50p to purchase themselves. Quality Koi Company My experience at Quality Koi Company has been exactly the opposite. Staff were more concerned looking at a computer screen and was extremely abrupt when asked a few questions. Their range of marine fish was limited to 5 or 6 fish, while their tropical fish were pretty much bread and butter varieties. I also noticed that 'Wild Caught' Leopoldi Fish were kept in a tank that was clearly linked to the central filtration system. Pricing was also over the top (£12-00) for 200g Hikari Wafers compared to £9.50 at another store. I will certainly not be visiting them again. Nothing is too much trouble for them and they have even been known to deliver goods on their way home at night. If you haven't visited them and if you are in the Brighouse area, call in and have a look at the fish and say hello to the friendlist staff you are ever likely to meet. This issue with the quality of fish mainly came down to the fact that the 2 owners (who in all fairness may now have sold-up and moved on) didn't spend any time in the shop, it was run by a manager with too many staff. The staff they did/do have are very good, but lacked the management of the owners, so overlooked things at times. The manager didnt have enough say-so to push the sales in the right direction. I haven't visited for quite a while now, but I do seem to think that the last time I did vists, they had removed all marine stock to concentrate purely on freshwater cold & tropics, so things may have changed. Initially looks nice but lots of dead fish left in the tanks and a whole tank of dead fish which had been there a v long time. Long enough to go green/hairy. All the staff will answer any question with the most truthful answer they can give. I have also been in a lot of tropical and marine fish shops and they have the best layout i have seen and are constantly upgrading there base systems to insure there customers only get the best out of the fish they buy. I would gladly recommend this shop to any one i know and have learned a lot from them. Up until then I would have rated 8 but now it seems to have gone steeply downhill. I went in, there were fish in a platys in a bag suffocating forgotten about, I watched him tip them out and about 20 died. Ther were about 20 other dead fish in the other tanks. Be very careful with this shop now, I just walked out and spent my money elsewhere. The staff are friendly, and happy to help if asked, as for the stock alot of the fish do have problems when they arrive in store. Saying that all my fish have been bought from this shop and i've never had health problems with any of them.
